Why Walk…When You Can Fly? shines a light on The Living Stage Theatre Company, a community outreach program founded by Robert Alexander to bring live theater to people on the fringe of mainstream society. It was his dream to take their dreams, and often their nightmares, and play them out on a stage, ”validating,” as he says, “their hopes and their fears in a way that traditional theater usually does not.”

Living Stage was born out of a need to meet the audience where they are.

We’re taking theater to the schools, the housing projects, the community centers, the churches, anywhere where there was an unserved population who didn’t have an outlet for their imagination, for their creativity, and for what we came to know as their genius.
